Privacy Policy
Last updated September 20, 2026
NongBoy connects people in Bacolod City who need a job done with local tradespeople. To do that we handle some personal information. This page explains what, why, and what control you have over it.
This policy covers the NongBoy website (nongboy.cc) and the NongBoy contractor app. We handle personal information in line with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
What we collect
Everyone
- Mobile number — used to sign you in with a one-time code sent by SMS, and to tie your account to a verified person. If you sign in with Google you can skip this step; accounts created that way have no mobile number on file and can’t receive SMS from us.
- Name — the name you give us, or the name on your Google account if you sign in with Google.
- Google account details — if you choose “Continue with Google”, we receive your name, email address, and Google’s account identifier. We do not receive your Google password, contacts, or other Google data.
- Messages you send through NongBoy. Phone numbers and other contact details are automatically removed from a conversation until you choose that tradesperson; a tradesperson who isn’t chosen never receives them.
- Notification details — if you use the app, a device token so we can send you push notifications. We also use your mobile number to text you about what is happening on your account, such as a new quote or message, or that a job is finished.
- Reviews you write or receive: a star rating, an optional comment, and a tradesperson’s one public reply. A review is shown to customers considering that tradesperson with the reviewer’s first name and last initial.
- Technical data — such as your IP address in security and audit logs, and a sign-in token stored on your device so you stay signed in.
Customers
- Job details — the trade, a title and description, how urgent it is, your barangay, and any landmark or address note you add.
- Location — the pin you drop on the map for the property.
- Photos you attach to a job. We strip their metadata (including any GPS location) and shrink them before storing. Only tradespeople who open your job can see them, and you can see them on your job page.
- Your answers about past-work photos — if a tradesperson adds photos of your job to their past work, we show them to you and record whether you confirmed they are of your job.
Tradespeople (contractors)
- Business profile — business name, experience, the trades you offer, and the barangays you cover.
- Base location — if you tap “Use my current location” in the app, we read your device location once to set where you work from. We do not track your location in the background.
- Verification documents — a photo of a document such as a barangay clearance, government ID, mayor’s permit, TESDA certificate, or PRC licence, plus details like the issuing body and reference number.
- Past work — photos and a short description of jobs you completed through NongBoy, shown to customers who have received a quote from you, together with the area and month of the job and the customer’s star rating for it. The customer of that job is asked to confirm each photo, and each photo shows their answer as a badge. Please don’t include people’s faces, house numbers or documents.
- Activity — the leads you receive, open, or decline, the quotes you send, your credit balance and its history, and ratings.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To match a job to tradespeople who cover that barangay and offer that trade, and to let customers compare quotes.
- To check that tradespeople are who they say they are before they can quote.
- To run credits, prevent fraud and abuse, and resolve disputes.
- To improve the service and fix problems.
We may also look at messages, reviews and other content when we investigate a report, enforce our Terms of Service, or comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show advertising.
How we protect your location
A tradesperson looking at a job before it is awarded sees only the barangay and an approximate distance — never your exact pin. In the same way, you see how far a tradesperson is from your job only as a rounded distance, never their exact position. The location shown to them is deliberately snapped to a coarse grid so that several tradespeople cannot combine their views to work out your address. Your exact location and landmark note are released only to the one tradesperson whose quote you accept.
Who we share information with
- Tradespeople and customers, as needed for a job. A tradesperson sees your job details and area. After you accept a quote, that tradesperson also sees your exact location, landmark and mobile number (if you have one), and you see theirs. Customers see a tradesperson’s business name, rating and reviews, the kinds of document they have had approved (not the documents themselves), years of experience, short bio, past work, a rounded distance, and their quotes.
- Service providers that run NongBoy for us: SMS delivery providers (to send sign-in codes and text alerts — they receive your mobile number and the message), Google’s Firebase service (to deliver push notifications to the app), our cloud hosting and database providers, and private cloud file storage for uploaded documents.
- Google, if you use Google Sign-In. Google’s own privacy policy applies to that sign-in.
- OpenStreetMap, whose map tiles load in your browser when you place a pin, which means their servers see your IP address and the map area you view.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or to protect people from fraud or harm.
Verification documents
Documents you upload for verification are stored privately — never at a public web address — and are opened only by the NongBoy administrators who review submissions, using a link that stops working after a few minutes. Each time one is opened is recorded. We keep them only as long as needed to verify you and meet legal obligations.
Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we use your name, email address, and Google account identifier only to sign you in, to link that Google account to your NongBoy account, and to pre-fill your name. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone other than the service providers above that operate NongBoy for us.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser or phone stores a sign-in token so you stay signed in, and the website keeps a cached copy of its own pages for faster loading. If you use Google Sign-In, Google’s script may set its own cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is active. Records of jobs, quotes, and credit transactions may be kept longer where needed for accounting, dispute resolution, or legal reasons. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize what we are not required to keep.
Security
Connections to NongBoy use HTTPS. Sign-in codes are stored hashed and expire quickly, the app keeps your sign-in token in your phone’s secure storage, and uploaded documents sit in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- be informed about how your data is handled (this page);
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or out of date;
- object to processing, or withdraw your consent;
- have your data suspended, blocked, or deleted in the cases the law allows;
- receive a copy of your data in a common format;
- claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful handling of your data; and
- complain to the National Privacy Commission.
To use any of these rights, email us at vincentbgarcia@gmail.com and include the mobile number on your account, so we can confirm the request is really from you.
Children
NongBoy is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by SMS.
